what is mission in project

Your mission statement is your message to the rest of the world about what you intend to accomplish with your project. Your statement should express your purpose without overwhelming the reader with obscure or too detailed information. The mission statement is not the history of the business or the reason for the project. Just indicate what you want to do and how you plan to do it.

  1. List the characteristics that the project group usually has. For example, if your group is looking to raise money for a charity, list characteristics such as hard work, generous work, support, and others that apply.
  2. List the types of people, groups, or organizations on which the project focuses. If, for example, you are developing a new product for your business, indicate the types of people who would be interested in purchasing the product.
  3. Write descriptions "from the top of your head" of the project and its purpose. Keep the descriptions in one or two sentences.
  4. Refine the choice of statements by asking other project members to submit ideas. Although the statement defines the purpose of the project, it should be succinct and easy to understand. Save larger and more elaborate descriptions for more documentation.
  5. Focus your statement on what you are trying to accomplish in general terms. For example, if your project is to raise funds for blind children, your mission statement may be something like: "The Fund for Blind Children aims to provide educational opportunities and fun activities for local children."
